Could WWE be planning a shock return for The Lunatic Fringe?
Dean Ambrose was put out of action late last year when it was revealed that he suffered a bicep tear. The former World Champion has since undergone surgery and WWE revealed that the timeline for his return would be close to nine months. It seems that current speculation suggests that his return could be much sooner.
Ambrose was put on the sidelines when it was revealed that he “tore some of the distal triceps tendons where it attaches to the forearm bone, called the olecranon” which basically means that he tore his bicep quite badly.Following surgery, WWE estimated that he would be out of action for around nine months, which means that he wouldn’t be back until SummerSlam season when in fact, it could be much sooner.Braun Strowman was given the same timeline for his return last year after he suffered a similar injury, but he was back in action three months later, which means he managed to return six months early. This has left many of the WWE Universe suspecting that WWE is trying to pull a fast one so that ‘The Lunatic Fringe’ could make a shock return ahead of WrestleMania.
PWInsider recently reported that Dean Ambrose was spotted in Birmingham, Alabama at the site where he underwent surgery back in December. Whilst this could have been a routine check-up to ensure that his injury was healing sufficiently, it is something that many fans have been able to use as part of the theory that The Lunatic Fringe will be back in time for the biggest event of the year.
Many believe that this spotting could be a sign that he is on track for a surprise return. Of course, Strowman must have worked incredibly hard to shave six months off his time frame for a return and it seems that Ambrose will have to work just as hard if there is a plan for him to return and be a part of WrestleMania.
It’s interesting to note that Ambrose’s original opponent for WrestleMania doesn’t actually have a match at WrestleMania yet since Jason Jordan’s neck surgery has left their feud up in the air. This means that Ambrose could return and take back his original position as Seth Rollins’ opponent at this year’s Mania if he was cleared in time.
Ambrose made a shock return back at Night of Champions in 2014 when Roman Reigns was out injured and Rollins had no opponent. It seems that the pop that Ambrose got that night could easily have influenced the company to do the same thing again.
Rollins and Ambrose are incredible as teammates but they are wrestling soul mates when they are enemies and the company knows that this is the feud that the WWE Universe has been waiting for. Hopefully, there is some truth to the speculation.
