Mark Henry has officially retired from wrestling

‘The World’s Strongest Man’ retired after Wrestlemania 33 …

On the most recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has reported that former WWE World Champion Mark Henry has officially retired from in-ring action, after a lengthy and successful career as a WWE Superstar.

Mark Henry hasn’t been a full-time wrestler for the WWE for quite some time now. In fact, the last time he was seen was during the Andre The Giant Battle Royale at Wrestlemania 33 that Mojo Rawley would go on to eventually win. His only other two appearances in 2017 were during the Royal Rumble match and in a losing effort to Braun Strowman on RAW.

Mark Henry had been a WWE Superstar since 1996, and during his run with the company managed to become a two-time world champion, winning the ECW Championship in 2008, and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in 2011.
Mark also famously faked his retirement in order to trick John Cena, the current WWE Title holder into dropping his guard so he could administer a ‘World’s Strongest Slam’. However this time his retirement seems legitimate and has been a thing since after Wrestlemania 33 when Henry himself announced his retirement. However, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has only covered it now, leading to sites like The Sportster, publishing news articles on it. It’s also the #1 trending article on R/Squared Circle at the moment, so people clearly didn’t know.

Despite hanging up his wrestling boots Mark Henry wanted to remain employed with the WWE and as far as I’m aware, still currently is employed with the company, working behind the scenes as a producer.

Cool, so we’re all aware that Mark Henry has retired now. Good! We wish the best for him.
